Luckily my scale was broken by my 16 lb cat a couple of weeks ago. I haven't been able to weigh myself except at the gym once a week. But what I am realizing is that my trainer JImi Lanham is right...of course. It is not about the pounds lost or what the scale says. It is how I feel, how much more strength and agility I am gaining, how my clothes don't make me look like a stuffed sausage anymore. Progress is not whether the scale shows a dramatic weight loss, but rather my blood glucose now being within normal range. So while I may still do a weekly weigh in, I am beginning to be more excited to see how many inches will be coming off of me as I work out 4-5 times per week. Hiking is getting easier for me. Tying my shoes is easier. Doing crunches is easier. Eating healthy is easier. And life feels more manageable and hopeful. So while it will be nice when one day I can meet the weight requirements to go ziplining, I'm celebrating that I feel healthy again.
