Trivia D (for Dunce) Student

Saturday, August 24, 2013

How many times have I answered the 3 daily Trivia questions? Pretty much every day.

What's my all time average? 84% right.

And this month? Struggling to reach 80% in August.

Needed for "Trivia A Student" status? 90% right in a month.

And how many times have I achieved Trivia A Student status? Umm, not very many. A couple. But I keep on trying. Because it's good for me to be humiliated and defeated, right? Keeps that ego in check. Especially when the list comes up of all the people who've scored 100% this month and many months (MOBYCARP for one . . . ).

OK then: I'll keep on. And be satisfied with my 3 Spark Points a day for trying -- no matter how many wrongs I score before I get 3 right. Yeah.

I too, have the problem of making it to 90% for the month too. Usually, I am sailing right along then near the end of the month, blow several questions and am unable to recover. The most embarrassing part? I have read every Spark article three times over!! The one thing I can't seem to retain is those statistical questions, like what % of people etc., My average is 90%, which is ironic as I don't get the 90% for the month too often, but some months I have a great % which makes up for it!
Here is to keeping on trying!

Ha! I think they are unclear/trick questions.

I'm a teacher. I know all about it! I've written a million of them in my career! emoticon

Sometimes the trivia quiz cheats - I'll get an answer correct, and it won't bother to count that correct answer.

Does it EVER miss a WRONG answer? No, of course not!

Makes me crazy some days!

(But I do learn something those days I miss an answer.)

And hey, an 80% is a B - not a D!

Trivia questions, Jeopardy, crosswords, etc. always remind me of two things. (1) my motivation to ward off Alzheimer's that is common in the family! and, (2) a favorite quote of mine: "Learning opens the world to minds ripe for the journey." Unknown.

Don't you worry about MOBYCARP outscoring you on ANY test. Get used to it. I've had to deal with that my WHOLE life! My big sis and I were such enthusiastic mini-teachers and he such an apt student that he entered K-garten reading the encyclopedia (granted it was a kids' version)... entries on what was then his passion: dinosaurs. (Now he's gonna come make fun of me in later comments).

Face it the man was a young Sheldon Cooper, and I'll have you know I LIVED in the Big Bang Theory apartment as a 20-something when his D&D friends and chess club folks came over and hung out.

Whatever he does, he does with precision and passion. Obviously, a few decades under his belt have not changed this trait. (Can you tell I still am crazy about my baby brother?)

But back to your own stuff? Don't you worry, you're doing just fine! You are a proud maintainer, trivia or no, you know what works for YOU.
