Great Results x2 (a long one...)

Friday, August 23, 2013

First - couldn't remember the TIME of my Doc appt, and office/phones don't get answered until 8am. I was praying that the appointment wasn't that early - or I'd be rescheduling! When I called and found out it wasn't until 9:30, WHEW! Was I relieved! I still hadn't even showered yet, so that gave me time. Of course, out of curiosity... upon waking (and voiding the bladder), I was at xx5.4#. That was fine, as last week Thurs afternoon it was xx0.0 at his office. Looked like I was definitely going to be on track for losin' per his scale. I was happy.

Post-shower, with wet hair... I was curious, so I hopped on again. What? xx4.2? Well, I'll be! That's never EVER happened before. Was I carrying around that much weight in grime???? Well, hubby would joke that was the case. I'm guessing that this pair of capris are lighter, and this t-shirt lighter... I think I've found the outfit to wear EVERY visit to his office ;) & every weigh-in! Now, that's without shoes.

I'm guessing the hair dried as much as the extra shoe weight - because I hit his scale and it was xx3.4/6!!! Well well! If this weight stays gone for tomorrow morning, I'll actually get to update a few sites and celebrate another pound or more! Wahoo!!!!!

Oh, funnier still... as I raced into the office running late, I passed my Doc heading out following a patient. I giggled, and he stood there and said he was the equivalent of a WalMart greeter... welcome to his office. LOL I headed up and signed in at the desk, then sat to wait, figuring whew, I wasn't the only one running behind! (yeah, still ran late even after verifying the time with plenty of time!)

Blood work? He was ecstatic! LDL down 20 more points... HDL up... oddly (to me) - this time no protein in urine... that was the trigger to send to the kidney specialist. But, things like that can happen - so yeah, not like I'm 'healed' I guess. Next appt with her isn't for several months now anyway. I was a bit worried about the BP - esp since I was laughing and carrying on with his nurse (yay, his usual one was back today - I really like her, very personable and friendly - and not a stick-figure heheh)... but as she was leaving, she couldn't stop saying how 'great' I looked today... guess she noticed the weight loss (for her it was about 4 months since she'd seen me - so yeah, good progress!). Also was worried because it's been now over a week and a half since I'd taken that last Cozaar, figured it'd be up a bit. But, he said it was 120/78? I think, I know the bottom was 78 anyway - which is so much more back to what mine has been my entire life. Never was under, never over - always was 120/80. Guess we could chalk that up to lazy nurses maybe? LOL His basic assessment was - keep doin' what you're doing!

Heck, I've ONLY been doing 30mins usually on the bike, last few weeks haven't been able to mow much (between the back pain and the weather) - just the one section at a time, here and there. Today, I was hoping to mow between our appointments, but it was clouding up and figured, eh - not happening. So, as also planned, I stopped at Office Depot after my appt, to check out an HP Convertible laptop/tablet that we were considering for our inspectors at work. I figured, it would make a dandy reward for my progress so far (actually 30# from the highest high point - but that's been pretty much all week already, 'bout time I get a reward!). It's on sale thru tomorrow for $100 off. I bit! I now own a Windows 8 computer... have only set up one Win8 tablet for one of my coworkers... learning it as I went (good thing I'm quick to pick up tech things, maybe that's why I'm in that field LOL). It's the HP Envy x2 - if'n you're looking for such a device, I can attest after a few hours of playing/setup - I'm quite impressed. Small 'n light 'nuff (compared to my ancient Motorola Xoom Android tablet - which I will be toting along with this one most likely)... I love it! GREAT reward on a GREAT day!

Yeah, back still givin' me fits, but didn't think about it when with Doc... of course not! Too much giggling and cutting up today!

Chrissy weighed in at 72#!!!! I'm not the only one who needs to shed a few pounds ;) Her hind quarter is really showing it (altho' she's got a lot of fluff/fur, too, it's not 'all fluff' LOL). She had a great checkup as well - eyes, ears, teeth, heart rate (altho' that had to be hard to judge, because she loves them so much and was so overexcited and panting like mad - I swear these folks must bathe in bacon cologne or something, the way dogs love them!). Negative on heartworm (of course) and fecal was good... all good! She has had a lot fewer allergic reactions this past year, at least none that prolonged and required treatment for ear infection, or like the one time, her belly was all broken out - think that had more to do with meds she was on for a bladder infection - or just odd timing. After all that mess, was when I switched vets to her current one. Heard also too many other pets lost that went to our old one, due to lack of proper diagnostic testing mostly. Heck, we'd buried 3 pets since I've been down here. Granted, my pup was 16 when I moved us here... cat lived until 2 wks before her 20th bday, just about 2 months after we lost his pup that was around 16 also). All three, I'm wondering, could have lived even healthier, longer if signs might have been seen earlier on. Love this place, even tho' I think they're lacing themselves with bacon to make the dogs love them! Chrissy perked up in the back seat as we pulled in! When going to the old vet, NONE of them were 'happy' to be going... getting Kiki out of her crate was next to impossible without bloodshed from claws or teeth. Chrissy - bounces all over these folks, happy as ever to see them!

OK... so, gettin' too close to midnight for comfort here - and I still need to get on the bike. Yeah, hubby finally got home late from work, after moving their offices this week - and we went out to eat... I need to ride the bike, then determine what HALF of my order came out to so I can log it. Surely not that bad, barely touched the sour cream nor the ancho ranch on the side ;) Pretty tasty quesadillas tho', I must say! I'm sure it put me right about to mid-range for today... I tried to do very well today, so the scale makes me happy in the morning!!!

Hope all my SparkBuds are doing great!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL yeah, but the last 2 weeks there hasn't been enough opportunity to mow - and 5/7? days the week before last, I had almost zero activity - hit the bottom of my fitbit friends on that list LOL Workin' my way back up to the middle... while workin' on my middle!

Just amazing that eating more, and working out less - lost 4 pounds... they say 'break the plateau' - most people tend to think they mean to kick it up ten notches... but sometimes doing just the opposite can actually work. Change period, can work to shock the system - thank God! LOL

You say "just" 30 min on the bike, but you're also out there (back permitting) dragging a heavy ass lawnmower all over hill & dale! These types of things also count as exercise :D

Glad to hear your appointments went well. It's kinda nuts that both you and Chrissy has appointments on the same day. I feel lucky if I can get into my doc within 2 months of calling for the appointment :P I don't know about you, but it feels great going to the doc now and not getting scolded for my weight!

Sounds like a good day all around! Isn't that always the way, something is bothering you all week but then you forget to tell the doctor about it. Weird how that works.
