I just moved to Houston, Texas. There is more than enough sun outside, I assure you. The real problem is that the heat index is over 105F every single day! How does anyone workout out side?!? I see people jogging outside in the morning, so I tried it. I was attacked by Genghis Khan army of mosquitoes within the first 4 minutes! So, I looked up tips for running in the high heat index, they sort of helped, but it is just miserable. I can barely make it two miles before I feel like I might pass out! So, I started doing DVD workouts, which has been a solution to the lack of exercise.
However, school hasn't started yet, and I don't have a job (since I just moved here for my husband's job,) so I am indoors ALL DAY! That outdoor workout was the only sunshine I ever got. Now I'm reduced to 16 hours of artificial light because my wimpy excuse for homeostasis can't kick it up a notch to get some good ole vitamin D from Mr. Sun in the 105F heat at near 100% humidity.
I sure do hope that come Monday (school starts) and September (nicer weather) I can return to the outdoors, and out of this stagnant indoor air. Ick!
