the word mother

Friday, August 23, 2013

I know this seems like a odd topic, maybe you can call this my venting blog today. Let me start right off apolozing, I am sorry for the venting.

The word Mother isn't a harmful word, but I have found that when a certain child of mine uses the word she makes it sound like it is a bad thing to be. When I was growing up I never called my mom Mother. My other children call me mom and usually the child that calls me Mother calls me mom.

She calls me mother when she is angry with me. But Because of my size and disability sometimes I feel that she uses it as a form of control which doesn't work any more.

Thanks again for letting me vent.

I am not a mother and do not pretend to know the feelings of one but I do know the best thing is that she is calling you mother and not something 'really' bad, mean or disrespectful. Hopefully this is just a phase she is experiencing right now and it too shall pass.

Just continue to let her know you love her, what's wrong with that I think ???

She/he must have something that's bothering them or not liking a chore etc. you have so she knows this controlled you in the past. If you can speak to the child I'd say when you say this you do it disrespectfully. I do not call you out of your name .i am your Mom & deserve to be treated respectfully. I love you & this hurts when you say this. I don't want to be referred to in this manner anymore if you choose to there will be consequences , so it's up to you. I may have in the past let you walk on me . This is my fault, but I know now that was wrong.I deserve more than that.

Most children, fight control, but they actually like to know what to expect. if you calmly teach them this WILL not happen anymore they should get the drift.Unless something serious like drugs were involved with a change in their attitude.
You are a great person & should be treated as such !

You are wiser than your child, it is great that now when she says Mother, you deal with this so well!
