I have been maintaining my weight loss now for 6 months! Some weeks my weight fluctuates, but its' never above my +/- 5lb range I have set for myself. So, I'm happy with that.
As many of my SparkFriends know, my knees have been acting up a lot lately. For those who don't know, I had two knee surgeries on my L knee back in high school. Relatively speaking, the surgeries worked and I can do more and not feel as much pain. Key being as much. I still feel pain. Lately it's been when I'm running. Unfortunately, the pain when I'm running kept increasing. So, in an effort to save my knees, I'm putting running on hold for now. I'm still doing quick spurts every now and then (by quick I mean literally 1-2mins at most). It's hard--I love being able to run for longer periods of time and I loved seeing how much longer I could go each time. But, it is what it is and I just have to do other activities to fuel my cardio time.
My new schedule will allow for ZUMBA definitely 1x/week, maybe 2x if Monday's don't prove to be too overwhelming work/school wise. I will be going to FitClub 2-4x/month. I do plan to goto the gym 2-3x/week to get some cardio machines and ST done as well.
But I felt like I needed something different. Something to challenge me.
The FitClub I mentioned above I got into via a friend down here, it's a Beachbody sponsored event. It's a free weekly workout session held by local Beachbody coaches. My friend has done different challenge packs through Beachbody. Her coach, Kristine, who is also my coach since my friend brought me, asked me after my first time being there whether I wanted to join a challenge pack. I declined, saying I was "already at my goal weight and couldn't justify the expense at the moment" She understood and I've enjoyed the weekly, free workouts ever since.
Last night at FitClub I was feeling like I wanted to join a group; everyone who goes there has been in a challenge group before or is in one right now. It's not required of you to do one if you are going to FitClub.
The workout last night was T25 - focused cardio for 25mins. There's a lot of high-impact and intense moves...but guess what? My knee didn't hurt! And it's only 25mins -- I certainly have time for that a few days a week! I loved it! I was a sweaty mess afterwards and I don't think I've sweat that much in any other time-equivalent workout! It felt AWESOME!
So, I talked with Chris. We decided it definitely would be worth it and, it would add 10 workout DVDs to my growing fitness DVD/Wii game collection! And, I get a month supply of their Shakeology which we sample every week after the workouts---yummy!
Anyways, so, I joined the T25 Challenge Group! I am very excited for it and it'll give me something new and fun to work on! And, I think I've mentioned before, I'm not looking to lose anymore weight necessarily, but there are areas that could use some tightening and I want my muscles more defined - if I lose or gain weight because of it, so be it, as long as the areas that still have some excess fat end up being smaller I don't care what direction the scale goes.
....Also, I am going to start a new weekly blog on Sunday regarding my weekly goals. I tried at the beginning of the month to set monthly goals by the week, but that just ended up causing me to forget things, etc. So, I'll go back to weekly goal setting, posting on here, and checking in on Saturday evenings.
