How I Gained a Pound in 10 Seconds!

Thursday, August 22, 2013

Our old digital scale "bit the dust" yesterday when our bathroom flooded because of a broken shower head. I bought a very expensive replacement, but, lo and behold, it weighs one pound heavier than the old one! It is probably more accurate, but it is frustrating when you are in the middle of a challenge! I may have to subtract a pound from my weight every week until the challenge is over and then acknowledge the new weight.

It would have been nice if the scale could have been one pound lower... lol

I would split the difference down the middle and call it a day!

I have 2 scales (one belonged to my mom) exactly the same model and one always weighs me 2 lbs heavier. I put that one away in the closet!

emoticon That can be very frustrating...especially in the middle of a challenge.
I once bought a new scale, and there was a difference all right...
A 10 lb. DIFFERENCE! emoticon
Now I'm using a nice digital scale...It weighs me more, but I know its accurate.
I agree with YOU, it would be nice for it to go downhill instead,LOL!

May God bless you and your wife~Christina

Smiling at your scales will recall I got a new digital scale BEFORE I started the spring challenge and it continues to be a great incentive for me as the pounds very slowly but surely come Thankful for them and for The process of getting more healthy each week... prayers coming your way for comfort, encouragement and for wise choices of each day spent well in God's own time and plan for your life.. A big Washington hug coming your way in Texas...I spent a few years there so still remember the Texas sized ones you need! HaHa

I agree with Jazze..just deduct that pound from your new scale keeping you on track with the scale you started with. You are MORE than due that pound my friend!

Hugs to you and we are wrapping your and your family in white light and love! emoticon emoticon

Ah, you sing a familiar song! My northland scale is calibrated to my doctors office and Weight Watchers . . . while my southern scale is four pounds heavy. I simply deduct four pounds. Replacing the scale is a low priority.

Well, here's how I reason this one. The object of the challenge is to lose weight from where you started. You started on the old scale, so your comparison should be to it. I would just subtract one lb. from this new scale for this challenge :)

My new scale has me weighing more as well. So, I completely understand how you feel!

I remember the old type of scale where you just had to turn to dial back a pound to adjust it. The Wii Fit Balance Board is great because you can actually offset the weight by the weight of your clothes. My husband laughs at me because I don't like to guesstimate the weight of my clothes so I weigh myself naked. He prefers to wear clothes and subtract 2 pounds. I'm sure his t-shirt and underwear don't weigh two pounds, lol

We have discussions in class about the difference between accuracy and precision. One scale can be more precise, but if it is less accurate or biased, that isn't vey helpful!
