Day twenty one of the August Back On Track Challenge. Freggies are up, walking breaks at work are happening in addition to walking the dog each evening. My evening pushups and planks are happening (except for last night. I was sore from yoga the night before).

I couldn't decide what I wanted to do today. It occurred to me that I haven't done the Deck of Cards workout in quite a while so I decided on that:

So I posted this for today's challenge on the Spark People One Day Challenge team. Remember, I post, therefore I do. I put this out there for today's challenge so I had to do it as well.

I took the 20-min walk break at work this morning. We have a nice path with a couple decent inclines. Then I walked the dog after dinner, 20 minutes, then I hit the elliptical for 20 minute interval training.

THEN I pulled out the deck of cards. The above article gives an example of a workout by Jillian Michaels but I created one to work the upper body that I needed. I created another one a few months ago with mostly cardio moves.

Here is what I did tonight:

HEARTS - jumping jacks

CLUBS - pushups (I did almost every round on my toes except the last two times I pulled a club card. My arms were toast by then so I got in table-top position and just bent my arms to lower my chest. A little easier but still works the chest!)

SPADES - tricep dips, legs straight out, not bent

DIAMONDS - Arnold press with eight pound weights

Ace - walk in place one minute

King - 15 bicep curls using 8lb weights. (I mixed it up here, regular bicep curls, then holding the weights facing away from my body and pulling up that way, then holding the weights facing up at my waist and pushing up into a V, like in the Spark People 9-min seated arm workout).

Queen - 10 arm circles with 5lb weights (as in the SP 9-min seated arm workout video).

Jack - 5 over-head tricep with weights

The whole thing took me twenty minutes.

I think it's safe to say I'm gonna feel this tomorrow! I just finished a full-body stretch, I'm going to wash up, then do dishes and like my buddy Sandicane, the kitchen will be closed.

    You impress me so much!
I've still not quite mastered the "boy pushups" - I can do maybe 2 with perfect form - but to get a set of 8 or 10 I'm still working from a slight angle - I'm down to a 6inch high toolbox as the platform for my hands. So soon, soon, I'll be able to do a set from the floor...
How's the plank going too? I can do 90 sec pretty consistently (can also make 90 for side plank), but haven't managed to get past this 90 sec limit yet. Are you still working towards the 2 minutes?
