I'm giving up

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

We've had a lovely day today. We visited the site of an old Roman town, in some ways not much to see, but quiet and peaceful and a chance for us all to enjoy nature.

We walked half way around the perimeter and then back across the middle. It was a distance of about 4 miles. We took our time, and 6 year old grandson didn't complain once

They are inspecting a piece of Roman wall. Not much to see at that point, but that made it easier to talk about the construction and to inspect the cement! Fancy that - cement that is almost 1700 years old emoticon

We also went to the village church. It dates from the 1200s, and is beautiful. This is just part of the interior - the decoration is ancient.

If you are interested you can read more about the church here southernlife.org.uk/silc
hesterchurch.htm
The Roman site is called Silchester and there is quite a lot about that on the web.

However, the day was marred. By late afternoon I felt really poorly. I just wanted to pass out. I checked my blood pressure and it was 87/47, a little lower than I would have wanted. I really can't face anything to eat, but I think I'll try and find something light and nourishing then - I'm going to lie down. That is really unusual for me, so you can tell that as far as today is concerned - I'm giving up.

Forgive me if I don't check out all your blogs today. Must be on form tomorrow - grandson and grand-daughter! Onwards and Upwards.

Glad you're better today. Blackberries are such a treat. It's not humid enough for them in my area...I'll still keep heat without humidity and get them at the grocery store. Glad you are enjoying the time with the GK's. Take care!

I'm sorry, I don't even know you, but your title caught my eye.
Your low blood pressure also caught my eye. Do you take meds for hypertension? They may need to be adjusted. And also, fluids. Keep drinking water. Lying down is a good move, get your body in a neutral position so that the pressure you do have can get to the brain. No fainting!
Be careful when first rising from a lying down position. Slowly. Let your body adjust.

Enjoy your trip, be safe,
A concerned nurse.

"Realizing your limits". What a wise phrase. Mind if I adopt it MEMKEEPR? Blogs are a wonderful way to "meet" people. You're a keeper, JACKSGRAM.

I hope that you are feeling better after your rest. Sometimes resting is exactly what we need to do. I have recently been learning this about myself.
