A Great Day

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

Yesterday my husband and I went to San Diego to spend the day with our oldest son and fiancee. We went to the beach and had lunch at a beach cafe. I love the ocean and I'm near it often, but not to just sit on the sand and gaze at the water. It was heavenly. It seems that when the kids grew up and left home we stopped doing lots of things we enjoyed. It's time to rediscover our passions now that we are retired.
It's always the little things we enjoy most...........spending time with our kids/grandkids, our animals, favorite places, friends and neighbors........nothing that money can buy.

Have a wonderful week, Spark friends!

    I second that.
Nice to know that you are one of the people who appreciates what you have.

Sounds wonderful Leslie! We are far from retired and have demanding jobs, but we have managed to fit in times this summer like you describe. Yesterday evening, we went to the last concert at Descanso Gardens (free to members) that we attended every Thurs. since June. It would run 6-7:30, perfect for our schedule. We packed a picnic & some wine and enjoyed music and the community of precious families all around us. emoticon

Always good to hear, Leslie - and especially that you're having such a relaxing time in southern CA! emoticon

NIce pedicure, Trivia Sister! I couldn't agree more. The beach...water....is definitely my favorite site. We live with a view of the Columbia River which enriches me soul daily. My koi pond also blesses me. The time spent with family and friends.....priceless. Beautiful blog! emoticon

Completely agree. "the best things in life are free..."

Geez, that should be a song. emoticon

It's so easy to fall into a rut day after day, retired or not.
We very deliberately plan days of fun stuff- taking turns planning our days.
Yours sounded just lovely.

It does sound like a wonderful day!!! We are in the same boat--we do very little in the way of just fun. Of course, my husband is not retired yet and he says this will change when he does retire. He's a bit of a homebody so I'm not optimistic. emoticon

LESLIE I'M SO HAPPY YOUR DAY WAS WONDERFUL....... IT IS TRUE THAT ONCE OUR KIDS GROW UP AND LEAVE HOME WE STOPP DOING SO MANY THINGS WE DID FOR THE KIDS..... NOTHING WRONG WITH US BEING KIDS NOW AND GETTING OUT TO SMELL THE ROSES....... I LOVE THE FEET IN THE PICTURE.... THE BEACH LOOKS SO BIG..........

I'm glad you had such a wonderful day.
It is funny that only your feet are visible on the photo but they clearly show you are active and healthy.
