Lose 17lbs by January 1st to see 199 on the scale..I think it's doable!

I just checked the scale. I am up .5lbs. I am not kicking it like I was before so need to get back into gear! It is only going to get harder with school, work and my son's schedule.
I am still getting in cardio daily - but my food is not as healthy. I feel like I am falling into old habits again. I have been so tired and then I wind up eating something quick and not so healthy. I have to find other ways to deal with that as my hubby and I are working hard to lose weight. My being the one to do the food shopping and meal planning needs to kick it into gear again. I don't want to start gaining.
So, I am going to start my meal planning again for the week. I am also tracking my food daily. I also need to lay off the carbs - being tired that is the first thing I seem to go too. Not good for me or my hubby.
I am also going to see if I can set up an appt to try a free pilates class. If I like it, I will sign up for the class. Thinking I will do that next week!
Well, there is my plan! I would really love to see the number 199 on the scale on January 1st, 2014 - I think losing 17 lbs between no and then is quite doable!
I am going to do it!!!! Anyone else going for 199 by January 1st???!!!????

    Know how you feel. I have been slacking in the food and exercise dept and gained weight now because of it. I also have to kick it into gear and get with the program. I think I am going to plan my weekly meals as well. emoticon

    Read the 'goal setting techniques' on the motivation forum at ONE FOR ALL AND ALL FOR ONE! Team. May give you some more ideas on your goals.

17 pounds by January is very do-able, but be strong in your mindset... lots on your plate at the moment, so don't overstretch your commitment. It WILL happen, but always give yourself enough time so it doesn't become a monumental burden instead of a "Woo Hoo I am Getting There!" feeling. Do you know what I mean?

    It's ambitious, but doable. Like you I find I trip up on the carbs. So I always have protein in a meal or snack. Yoghurt and boiled eggs are my standbys, I boil eggs and keep them in the fridge to grab and go. As for carbs, I have thin rice or wheat free whole grain crackers to carry my Vegemite and tomatoes, other than that I get my carbs through non starchy vegetables. And I do most of my food prep in one day. Cuts down on my kitchen time.
It has taken me a long time to want to get back to the kitchen and til then I avoided it at all costs!

    Barb, your blog is powerful in many ways and it seems like you and I have changed a lot since we started our exercise regime 6 weeks ago. We are not doing the same thing now but we learned what works, what we don't like to do, what can hurt us and those are important points of information for goal setting. emoticon

Since you don't start work til Sept. 3rd, you have this time to set it all up for yourself and your family. I know you hate cooking but maybe this will be an exciting thing for you now because you want to eat healthier and want your family to do the same AND your hubby is part of it now! Not only is he wanting to loose weight too but he can see what you are doing (and your son too) and your example is powerful and life changing not just for you but your family and ultimately, your friends too.

Keep up the great work and see the things that don't work from now on as just information to tweak your goals some. God bless you and keep up the great work! B.A.W.!! emoticon

    Great idea, and great goal. You can definitely do it! January 2014 is a great time for it.
I personally LOVE meal planning, I use Pinterest and find some awesome ideas. The layered salads are a great way to prepare ahead of time, and add in your leftovers... and I'm talking about roast beef, chicken, lentils, cooked veg, fresh greens, etc. I usually have a couple layered salads combined in the fridge at all times, and my daughter and step daughter are creatures of colour enticement, and go for the multicoloured salads in transparent jars in the fridge before the chips :)
