I'm a little discouraged

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

I am a little discouraged. Today was day 2 of the walk/jog program for me. I did push myself to go the last minute, and that was very hard to do. I did jog for a total of 3 minutes, but I had ALL I could do to finish the walk. There was nothing "brisk" about my walk today. Only the beginning 4 minutes! I am discouraged because I am looking for results "TOO SOON" This is only my day 2 of the walk/jog program. With my 5k coming on October 6th, I just don't know if I will be able to do it. Plus there were other walks I probably should have joined like the run/walk 2 mile. But I joined this one because it was a week later and that's when I joined my virtual race.

So now I am nervous as heck. I know there are no "rules" stating you have to RUN the whole time, but with today, now I don't even know if I will be able to FINISH.

I know I will get better the more I practice, but darn, I guess my nerves are just getting to me!

I did my 1st 5k in April and ended up running part of it and walking the rest. I felt a lot of pressure to run but eventually had to accept that it would take a while longer for consistent running. Try to take some of the pressure off yourself.

emoticon Don't let 'Perfect' whisper Sour Thoughts in your ear. You DON'T Need him!! Be Persistent and Consistent -- Just doing Your Best Every Day. Speed will come in it's Own Time. Have Fun, Enjoy Your 5K, and Kick all those pre conceived Notions that you have do do the Race at Any Particular Speed or Pace.

I have never ran a 5K, but I have walked them and it is awesome. It doesn't matter how you go across the finish line, it's just that you do it. emoticon

You HAVE to do the race even if you walk most of it! Once you complete it, you can say you did a 5K to other people, you were in the thrill of the race with others, you get your time in which you can use as a goal to beat, you can check the 5K race off your "bucket list" if you have one, and most importantly, YOU DID IT!
