“We are taught you must blame your father, your sisters, your brothers, the school, the teachers - but never blame yourself. It's never your fault. But it's always your fault, because if you wanted to change you're the one who has got to change.”
― Katharine Hepburn, Me: Stories of My Life

Hope everyone has a wonderful week of change! So glad you stopped by and shared the moment with me. Thank you. Blessings to all!!

When I was growing up and until now I always blamed myself for my mistakes and the mistakes of others. It took many years to realize that others mistakes are not my mistakes. I account for my own mistakes now. I learn from them and go on. Thanks for sharing!!

I was really disappointed to see that Katherine Hepburn made this quote~~
I loved Katherine Hepburn...and her marching to a different tune to everyone else...

And she is right enough about *change*~~

BUT~~ were any of you *taught* to blame others for your problems???

I sure was not....whatever I did....I was taught that I WOULD take responsibility for it and I would face all the consequences of any of my actions!

AND that is what I also taught my 2 boys!

And I hate people who always feel it is someone else's...OR Something..Else's...Fault!
Want to tell them to grow up and get on with it!

emoticon This is so true! I taught my girls from a young age, to accept responsibility for their actions, and recognize that every action has a reaction. Nothing is ever gained by blaming others! emoticon

emoticon That's right! But, even if we have had bad experiences with others, etc. - we can use it to make ourselves stronger-not blame them! emoticon

I do get tired of people making excuses because of their past. Poppy cock - no one has had a trouble free life so the buck stops here. We have to be responsible for our lives going forward.

At the same time, we are the person who must take the credit when our changes lead to good things. And we must learn that we can only change ourselves, never anyone else. We can support others who have chosen to change, but we can never force them to be what they choose not to be.
