Today was my first day back teaching and it was a long day. I teach 3 sections every other day, two sections in the morning and one in the afternoon. 7 times during the semester, including today, the classes are 2 hours (double periods for labs and problem solving periods), otherwise they are 1 hour each.
So, today's schedule was:
5:30 wake up, breakfast
6:30 bike in to work, get changed, final prep
7:30-9:35 first class
9:50-11:55 second class
12:15-1:00 inter mural frisbee game versus systems engineering (we won 12-8)
Quick shower, eat my PB&J for lunch, and back to class.
1:55-4:00 last class
4:20 meet my DW and kids at "the plain" (the main parade field) where we watched the army parachute team load up in Blackhawks and practice their precision skydiving.
My DW got the oldest off to gymnastics, while I took the three youngest home for dinner, tubs, reading and bed.
Now they are in bed, though not quite asleep and I am finally able to sit down. Whew! I forgot how long a full day of teaching was, with 6 hours of talking and walking! I am glad Thursday's classes are only single periods!
I think it is time for a glass of red wine.
Take care! Keep calm and spark on!
