Getting towards the end of my week of food blogging! It is REALLY helping me eat well, but I'm officially sick of taking a photo everytime I eat!
Yesterday started with Owen waking up at 5:30 with the most giant blowout of his life! Normally he sleeps till about 7:00 but after I got his diaper, clothes, and sheets changed he was wide awake so I decided to get him ready and take an early walk while it was till under 70 outside. It was nice to walk in the cooler weather, Owen was in a pretty good mood for having woke up so early, so we were able to walk about 3.5 miles.
After I came home, got ready for the day, fed Owen snack and did some cleaning. I was feeling pretty good so I decided to try and walk down to the fruit/veggie stand a mile from my house before it got to hot. It was about 85 when I left and the walk there was good, Owen fell asleep in the stroller so I didn't have to worry about him fussing once we got there. I bought a watermelon, 6 corn cobs, 4 zucchini, and a butternut squash. Then I realized that since I'd left the house the temperature had risen over 90 and now I had to walk home with a stroller full of heavy produce! That was a rough mile! The stroller was loaded so heavy that the basket under it was almost touching the ground from the weight. And I never noticed that the mile home is slightly uphill until I had to push the stroller up the whole way!
After getting home from that was when the day went to poop. Literally. Owen is cutting a tooth and just when I thought how easy this one was... 20, Yes, 20 dirty diapers yesterday. His poor little booty, even with me changing him immediately by the end of the day he had a bad rash and would just scream with every change. So the only other time we left the house was to go to the grocery store to pick a couple things we need up (milk, eggs, bread), to get him some pedialite and some plug-him-up foods (bananas, rice, yogurt), and to get him some stronger diaper rash cream.
Still- did good yesterday. Just a couple more days till my birthday on which we're going to the fair during the day and out for dinner in the evening, I've already decided that I won't track that day. The fair and my birthday on the same day? Too big to resist. I have already decided what I'll eat at the fair and for dinner that day and I figure I'll probably be around 2000-2300 that day which I'm fine with. Just no sweets of my own at the fair- my favorite fair foods are corn dogs and gyros, so I'll have one of each and no more. (maybe a bite of Mike and Bryn's stuff- but no full elephant ears, funnel cakes, or fried twinkies for me!) Anyways- since I've got that coming Thursday is making me really do good at doing good this week! I think as long as I had a full healthy week leading up to it I won't get the fair food guilt from it.
So here was my Monday's food-
Lunch #1 (otherwise known as Elevensies for any Lord of the Ring fans out there)- turkey sandwich
breakfast was small so I needed something more substantial then a snack. And yes, I eat a lot of turkey sandwiches.
Lunch #2- After getting back from the fruit/veggie stand I just couldn't wait till dinner for zucchini, I LOVE zucchini. We normally grow it ourselves in the summer, but for some reason we didn't this year... maybe we decided we didn't have room for it? I can't remember, but we won't be making that mistake again! so lunch was chicken salad on iceberg and steamed zucchini. Usually I use celery in my chicken salad, but this time I used fresh zucchini instead. Yummy.
Dinner- ribs, corn on the cob, zucchini, and watermelon. Oh so good. I love farm fresh produce in the summer! Not sure why the ribs look burnt in the photo- they weren't, they were perfect :) Oh-and a Mike's Hard Lemonade. I rarely ever have a drink- but Mommy was in the mood for one after all those diaper changes today!
Evening snack- half a Chobani yogurt (shared with Owen)
