You know itís August in Florida when...

Monday, August 19, 2013

- Hot water comes out of both taps.

- You find out that a seatbelt buckle makes a pretty nice branding iron.

- The trees are whistling for the dogs. emoticon

- You find out that you can get sunburned through your car window. (TRUE!!)

- You burn your hand opening the car door.

- The temperature drops below 80 and you put on a sweater. emoticon

- Shade determines the best parking space, not distance. emoticon

- When you step outside at 7:30 a.m., you break into a sweat. (Was 95 degrees Fahrenheit, heat index, at 9:30 AM this morning!)

- Potatoes cook underground. This is convenient because all you have to do is pull one out and add salt, pepper and butter. emoticon

- You discover that asphalt has a liquid state. emoticon

- You realize that it only takes two fingers to steer your car. emoticon

As they say "humor is the best medicine'.

Love, Chelsea emoticon emoticon emoticon

I can relate to some of those from when we lived in Texas. Those can apply to Alaska in the dead of winter with a little modification. Cold water instead of hot, burns and frostbite from the cold temperatures, and when it gets above zero you put on shorts. emoticon

Hanaahaj true!! I used to live in Florida near Cape Canaveral but then we moved to Kansas! Kansas has a lot of summer heat, but this summer, our August has been more like the usual Florida summers - very warm and humid and lots of rains. Thankfully the "Love Bugs" stayed in Florida, I guess!?

Thanks!!

It's humorous to those who have never lived in the south in the summer. You forgot the one about walking outside and having your glasses fog up immediately. Thank goodness for air conditioning and pools and beaches. If we could only do our work from the pool!

I know that here in DE. the door knob gets almost too hot to touch as does the steering wheel on the car and it is not way as hot as you have it. It has been an unusually cool August for us getting down to the very low 60's at night and only in the 70's doing the day. Heating up tomorrow then cooling down again. I'll try and send some cooler weather your way girlfriend!Hugs. Pat

emoticon Chelsea.

Seasons are becoming more strange, don't you think?

Everything is more 'extreme', ie the hot is hotter and the cold is colder .. or, maybe that's just old age settling in? not sure.

And we in the UK complain about too much rain. It rains on average five days per week here in Devon.
A few years ago in Spain we managed to fry an egg on a black cars bonnet (hood) and although it took longer than it would in a frying pan it did cook.

Cheers

Trev

    Too funny and so true!
We visited one year at this time and just going from the hotel room to the car we looked like we were at the gym for hours! It was not pretty!
From then on, we practically parked the car inside the room! We ran for it if it wasn't close and lived in air conditioning. From store to store to restaurant to hotel to show, whatever it took.

Man in you're heat it's got to burn off a few pounds!! And I don't know how with asthma you do it!!!

Heaven for bid that air conditioning breaks down. It could get violent! Oh Mercy!!!

Be Cool! emoticon emoticon

When I lived in Palm Springs for a short time, the temps were unreal. So, I'd add to your list by saying, "When you go out for a swim in the pool around 10 p.m. and the water is still as warm as bath water." (heat w/o the humidity is still very uncomfortable. With humidity, it's a deal breaker.)
