Back to work and back to the program

Monday, August 19, 2013

Oh what a Monday. Back to work after a week and a day of vacation. And to top it off a friend needed a lift to the airport so I was up about 4:15 this morning. Got in to work at 6:30 and have been hard at it playing catch up. Luckily I seem to have done a good job preparing before I left since catch up is not going to bad.

So the diving was awesome on the trip. Grand Cayman was a little disappointing, in the sea life we saw, but I got to witness my daughter’s double fist pump when she finally figured out how to clear her ears and descend without problem and make it to the 20 foot mark. That is an impressive sight, a 10 year old doing a double fist pump under water. Shopping on Grand Cayman was an even bigger disappointment. I am not sure I have ever been into a store where no one came up to me to try to sell me something or even greeted me. I felt like I was doing them a favor by walking in. Then again maybe they could tell I didn’t really have much interest in buying $1000 watches.

Cozumel was a much better location for sea life. We got to see an eagle ray with about a 4.5’ wide wings span. A small sting ray. A pretty big sea horse and a few small eel. Along with the normal colorful reef fish. But the best part of that was diving with my oldest daughter. She was pretty nervous about her ears, but had no trouble whatsoever and loved it. One highlight from Cozumel was the youngest snorkeling after we finished. She was checking out and watching a huge school of minnows. Katy, my oldest went in to cool off and came back and said Kristy had swam into the school and broke it into 2 groups and felt bad for splitting them up, so she was trying to herd them back together. Shopping was much better in Cozumel. Which I figured it would be. I scored a nice pair of Oakley sunglasses for pretty amazingly cheap. They even look legit. Lol

All in all it was a great trip. And then I went diving on Sunday in a local quarry. A little cooler and water not near as clear, but sort of like people say about golf, a bad day diving is better than a good day at work.

But now it is back to work. I promise pictures are coming. Lol I need to get on that.

Now, I need to get out of vacation mode eating and back on the exercise track. So, back to tracking it all!

I highly recommend a discover scuba class instead of the snorkeling. It will get you some basic instruction and an instructor is with you the whole time. My girls did it and loved it, plus it counts as part of the certification if you are interested in pursuing that. I am certified but it worked well for my daughters to give them a taste of what it is like and why it is sooo neat.

I snorkeled for the first time last week while on vacation in the Fl Keys. I loved it! It was absolutely amazing. I can only imagine that diving is even better. I re-joined the work world today too, ugghhh. There is one positive about that though, I tend to stay on track much better with my diet and exercise when I am in the work world grind. Now it is time to work for the next vacation that will definitely include a snorkeling adventure.
