My weekend waspretty boring. I spent most of it taking down the micro braids I had in my hair. That was a process! But anywho, Derrell had to work Sunday and then had Guys Night with friends afterwards so I hit the gym. I was NOT in the mood. It was one of those workouts where you tell yourself, "Self, just GO to the gym. Do SOMETHING for 30 minutes and you can leave." I was counting down the minutes until I hit 30 when an old childhood friend, Kizzie, walked up to me. She and I have known each other since we were 5 years old and grew up together. She switched high schools our junior year and I only saw her every so often after that. Facebook allowed us to reconnect but it was nothing more than a few niceties here and there.
Thank goodness for Kizzie! She and I began talking and next thing you know I had completed 60 minutes on the treadmill plus the five minute cool down. In our talking she told me of how she got serious about getting healthy in January after her sister told her to checkout my Facebook page. She said seeing my transformation inspired her and she got to the gym the very next day and cut out all soda. This made me feel so good because this is someone who has seen my struggle with weight my entire life. Kizzie has lost 40 pounds since January!!!
After that I was feeling so much better. Just the night before I freaked out and got all down on myself because when I went to snuggle with Derrell I suddenly caught a glimpse of morbidly obese Nikki and it immediately ruined the mood. Derrell tried to convince me that I was fine and I did not want to hear it. I felt like a lump of lard.
Speaking of lard. After cleaning up from the gym and flat ironing my hair, I invited one of my closest friends and bridesmaid, Ash to dinner. She and I have a tradition that we go to Endless Shrimp at Red Lobster every year together. Ash is a size 3 and couldn't gain weight if she tried. In order to keep myself on track and aware of my progress while in the midst of shrimp heaven, I wore a cute but fitted military style blazer, a little tank and short shorts.
When we got to RL there was a bit of a wait so we had a drink at the bar. I had a Pina Colado on the rocks with a shot of Amaretto Disarrino. Ash had a Top Shelf Long Island Iced Tea. We were then sat. I had a cup of chicken tortilla soup (which he doused with shredded cheese
) and two biscuits (300 calories of sin and tastiness). I ordered shrimp alfredo and fried shrimp. By the time the food got there, I was pretty much done. I had less than half of my pasta and six shrimp. I ordered one refill of popcorn shrimp, had 4 of the tiny shrimp and quit. I definitely didn't get my money's worth but my friend was the server and so he rang in a bunch of shrimp for me to take home to Derrell. Trust me, the shrimp is safe from me because not only do I not eat leftovers often, but after having my colonic, I am realizing that a lot of the carb heavy stuff that I love, hurts my tummy and I just don't want it.
Well, I am only 18 days from my wedding. I am wrapping up some last minute details and am mostly just looking forward to the whole thing being DONE! I just want to get on that boat and sail away with my husband.
