I was three weeks away from finishing p90x for the second time. I was only doing the weight routines for the lean program twice a week. But I've had a really hard time motivating myself with it. I don't think I push enough when I do it and they are long DVD's to be quite frank. :)
So this weekend I bought the 30 day shred from jillian michaels. It's a circuit routine that is only 20 minutes long. So far I like it a lot and I actually sweat more in those 20 minutes than I did with p90x. The only thing I modify is the cardio. I need to lose at least 79 more pounds so I don't really think a lot of jumping is for me so instead I do intervals on the treadmill while they do cardio. Going to try it this month along with everything else instead of p90x.
my run/walking is progressing. I won't be running the entire 5k. it will be run/walking. I still struggle i'm not going to lie. I just shuffle along but my times have improved and keep improving. All summer long I have increased my time by 10 seconds running and decreased my time walking by 10 seconds every week, running 3 days a week for 30 minutes. It's a slow program but since i'm so overweight a wise friend of mine told me to do this program and I do really like it. Even then i'm always questioning if I should be running really at my weight. There is a lot of success stories from running obese but there is also a lot of stories about injuries. My goal is to get to 219 by the time of the 5k 3 weeks away. not sure if I will make it. My weight loss Is pretty unpredictable but i'm going to try.
My hope is that I will be able to run 30 minutes by the time it turns cold out so I can continue into late fall/early winter running outside and not on a treadmill. I really enjoy running in the cold.
I'm only exercising an hour a day I figure, that right now is all I need and so far it's been accompanied by weight loss so i'm okay with that. I also eat at the high end of my calorie allotment. I also this month want to do some ifit or incline intervals on my treadmill and I've been doing some swimming too. matter of fact i'm going swimming this morning before work.
