Spark Coach has suggested that at this point in my weight loss journey I take a second look at my exercise program. Toward that end I need to ask myself 1) how am I doing? 2) if it is working for me? and, 3) how sustainable it is considering I am probably going back to work shortly? Also, this causes me to also rethink my other personal goals since working 4 ten hour days will likely result in a readjustment in all of my personal goals.
Toward that end I have given some thought to all of this and here's where I am. First of all, the program I have been on has been working well for me. The cardio has been good for me and I am already half way toward my weight loss goal. But that is just it, when I look at my weight tracker when I make comments on the site I have to ask myself if I am satisfied with being half way there, or do I want to finally finish the race completely? And I choose the latter!! I want to finish the race and take off those final pounds. In the past I have always just settled for getting close to my weight loss goal and not taken the off the full amount of weight. Well, not this time. This time is different. I have proven that I have a new lifestyle and that it is good for me. I vote to continue to push towards my real goal! I am not going to shortchange myself like I have always done before. I am going the distance this time! And that excites me.
The new job possibility is likely. And even it is doesn't materialize, I will simply apply elsewhere until I get something. So either way a new job simply will mean more NEAT calories will be burned. I will wear my mileage tracker to be sure I get a full 2 miles in every day as well as sustained cardio on the treadmill each day. So my new goal is to do 2 miles every day. I will continue this practice until I have reached my goal weight. Then I will look at a reduced maintenance schedule.
As for my personal goals, yes, I do have to adjust there. So here goes:
1) I will still finish my gluten free cookbook.
2) I will work on completing the pictures for the cookbook. That means actually cooking the recipes and doing the photos. I have about 30 different dishes left in it so that's a lot of cooking. This priority needs to be moved to the top of the list as it has been too long.
3) I need to get back on track with exercising 2 miles per day to make it to my weight loss goal! Then all of the size 10 pants will fit just fine.
If I do get the job I have applied for I will be putting in tons of steps every day that I work and that will only help me to reach my goal as well. It is actually a healthy job in that regard. I am sure, however, that there will be lots of stress to go with that -- that's the nature of the beast. But that's life. I will simply work out to handle the stress and get plenty of rest. All that to say I won't have a lot of extra time when I am doing 4 ten hour days. I will work, eat, sleep and work out each day. Probably take Fridays off to rest & recover, Saturdays will be mine to accomplish other goals, church on Sunday, laundry and back to work. It will be a grind -- but a good one!
Well, all for now, I'll be working out this afternoon and I can't wait to get started! Then I will cook and photograph dinner! Two good steps in the right direction. I am making Hawaiian Chicken for dinner tonite -- Yum !!
