Reflecting on my first month back at Sparking

Sunday, August 18, 2013

After a bit of a crisis realizing my marriage is in trouble, it has now been 1 month I have been tracking daily (except during our 10 day vacation). I have excercised most days. I have lost 14 pounds. I do feel better, clothes are fitting better (some I couldn't get into are fitting now) and several are becoming a bit baggy. I have more endurance now -- still can't run 2.7 km straight, but can run 2/3 and walk 1/3 -- alternating of course. Some folks are starting to notice.

So all in all I should be happy. And as far as weight loss and fitness levels go, I have certainly been successful.

I am actually 0.6 lbs away from my first goal. Then I'll set a new goal, probably the next 10 lbs.

This was a tough year in my marriage, too. Looks like we will make it, but it is still rather fragile. So I know how you feel and it ain't good. Sigh.

On the plus side, I would say that exercising on a regular basis and feeling the changes in my strength and flexibility really helped me to be somewhat okay with whatever outcome is coming down the pipe. And since I started tracking and making more conscious healthy choices, it's also helped my mood. I'm kind of thinking that there are some things I can't control, but healthy activity and healthy eating ARE one of the few things within my control. So I should reinforce manageability through them...

Hope things get better. Well, they do...but without getting worse first, if you know what I mean. Hugs, Karen
