I quit smoking....sorta

Sunday, August 18, 2013

I have been smoking since I was 16. As my activity increases, I need my lung capacity back!

I have been struggling to quit for the past 3 months. I am now in a guilt-filled on again/off again relationship with cigarettes.

A friend of mine said something that made me smile:

Only when you quit for good can you truly unleash your inner athlete....the one that has been very good so far at reaching new milestones!

"unleash my inner athlete" - I like that!

So, as I feel the cravings set in I think about her....that inner athlete. I also think about my goal of completing a sprint triathlon...triathletes don't smoke! I will focus on my goals...on wanting them more than the cigarette.

Some gum and pretzels won't hurt either!

I quit cold turkey about 4 years ago. It was the best decision of my life. I feel great. Keep on trying you'll get there if you truly want to unleash that inner athlete and you'll feel and breathe so much better.
