4 NO's Saturday in Paradise..Michigan!

Saturday, August 17, 2013

Ah, I just cane back in the cabin after watching the sun rise over Lake Superior. It crests at the shores of Sault Ste. Marie, Canada.
Yesterday DD drove the first three hours including driving over the Mackinac Bridge into St. Ignace,MI. She is afraid of heights, but it was a great experience. Mostly for me. It is the firsttiime I have been bale to actually look out the windows for more than
nanosecond to watch the ships go under the bridge from Lake Huron to Lake Michigan.

We went to the blueberry festival, but nobody had local berries; today we are going back there to take a business man who is a Native American, one of our memory cards with pics of DD's skin from when she had a severe eczema, contact dermatitis flareup.
Then we are off to Oswalds Bear ranch near Newberry. After that we head to the forest to pick huckleberries. I have my can of mace, our picking tool that DD made.
I am not sure if I feel safer if a bear or moose decides to dine where we will be picking. a

Grilling and a bonfire are tonight,, spend the rest of daylight on the beach, in the lake.

We met some people that were here last year at the same time we were. Very nice people..

I have never seen a Moose up close, and probably good that I haven't lol. I always think of Bullwinkle. I did see a Black Bear, not real far from me, when I was 7. It stood up, looked at me, then went on its way. I was fearless back then. Now I know I was lucky. I have never eaten a Huckleberry. Are they similar to Blackberries? Hope you guys are taking pictures, as I have only flown over the Lakes.

Have you ever read the childrens book called Blueberries for Sal? I can't believe I actually found a video of the book being read, showing the illustrations:

Just goes to show what can happen.

Enjoy the huckleberries. emoticon
