While staying at Carter Notch Hut, I learned something about the Thru Hikers who hike the full Appalachian Trail (AT). There are the NoBo's who who head North. They started on Springer Mt. in Georgia and are hiking to Mt. Katahdin in Maine. These people have about 363 miles to go. Most hope to finish in a month. Here are a few NoBo's
Puffy is from Burmingham, GA
Johnny Walker is from North Carolina.
Moose Spotter and Toad Spotter are from Dallas, TX. They worked in a school, but quit their jobs to have a year of hiking. They were heading into Gorham to sign papers on the sale of their home. People can continue their lives, and still hike!
Tru hikes with her dog ATV. This is her second time hiking the AT. She was getting off the trail for a break. Her dog was having problems with his paws. What a patient person, and a good listener. I am glad that I met her.
The SoBo's s start on Katahdin, and head South. They hope to finish by Christmas on Springer Mt. They have the luxury of not worrying about snow coming as they try to finish.
Wildcat and CoaCoa are from Pennsylvania.
The NoBo's and SoBo's taught me the importance of taking time to slow down and listen to my heart. Don't rush through life. Stop and recognize those around us! Sometimes we have so much chatter and noise that we can't hear the voices of our loved ones.
On the AT, there are NoBo's and SoBo's, but there are no HoBo's ((homeless bodies). The trail is the home of all who hike it.
