Good Bye XL Forever!

Friday, August 16, 2013

Recently my clothes are too big and I donated them, leaving me with few things to wear and nothing too special. I am in Las Vegas and did a little shop for clothes. I tried on a long skirt, size XL and it was too long. Dare I try on a size large? Yes I will and IT FIT! Wow I looked over at the 2 tops I got for layering and decided to try size Large. Will they fit too??? YES!!! YES THEY DO!!!

I felt a sense of relief and a feeling of accomplishment as it hit me. FINALLY!!! I am on the brink of onederland and I am back to size Large, a size I have not worn for about 12 years. I never thought of size Large as a milestone, but I certainly recognized it when I hit it. My focus had been on getting under 200 pounds, but hitting size Large now, came at a time I really need to refocus on my healthy lifestyle and get to a healthy BMI.

I now wear a size large! Maybe I have for awhile. I thought an XL was my size and just fit me better than it did 20-30 pounds ago. I noticed as my body is shrinking, it's still the same shape, just less of it. Time to hit the gym and make some muscle! But am I ever motivated now!

This is what I look like at 202 pounds and size large.

great news! I have all kind of sizes , it depends on the country where the clothes are made . but I bet you would be a German size S ( really , their L is a little big for me now). I think we still have to get used to the new body image , I almost failed to buy two gorgeous perfectly fitting dresses because I thought they were too small. luckily I said to myself " let's see how small they are " .this time I won't throw away all my big size clothes though. I'll put some in a plastic sack and keep them just in case or as a memory.

That's great. The best milestones of all can come from how we feel in the world around us, an airline seat, our clothes or stuffed into a crowded elevator. When we feel the difference, all the work is worth it.

Way to go, Lynn! That is fantastic!!

I'm writing this while waiting for my wife to finish dialysis. If you read my comments in our Friends Through Fitness page, you'll understand that I may not be posting much in the next few days. I did want to answer your question about functional fitness, though. I try to get up to half of my fitness minutes by doing rigorous "chores" - whether it is brush clearing, mowing the lawn, moving dialysis boxes around, landscaping and construction projects, etc. This way I'm "getting things done" while trying to stay fit. I find that if I concentrate too much on just exercise, I get behind on my other chores and feel a little guilty. Doing the "functional fitness" helps keep a balance in my life.

Talk to you later!

Fantastic!!! I keep seeing below 205 and then gaining 5-7 lbs. back and just sitting there!! I really admire you for getting to this point!! I know I hit the large sizes about 210, but I am a petite (when I'm not so overweight) , and my shoulders are where I lost my weight first, unfortunately hips and thighs are gonna have to come later!!! Take care, hit that gym and may you continue to amaze yourself!!!! emoticon
