Riding with the wild turkeys

Friday, August 16, 2013

The morning weather was perfect so I added a little extra distance to my morning commute to the office. Took a route out of town that I hadn't ridden in over a year. It's a nice quiet country road so almost no traffic. The route is rather hilly but I've been riding fairly consistently for the past few weeks so I was ready for a challenge. Lot's of wildlife out and about along the way but the highlight was riding alongside a flock of wild turkeys as they ducked into the woods.

I often do the same, adding some extra distance to my commute! How longer it is that way for you?
How was September for you in terms of healthy living?

Love it when I take "the long way" to get someplace...and the wildlife is always a welcome added delight to a ride, lucky you!

Isn't it amazing how encountering wildlife never gets old? I live in the country but I still get a thrill when a doe runs across the road, I spot a coyote making his way across a pasture or I spot some wild turkeys ambling along a creek valley. Thanks for the reminder!
