So, we know we need to give Bam-Bam lots of exercise to keep her from going crazy and destroying things...in general, we figure our plan with the pup will be for Paul or I to walk her in the morning, and then in the evening one of us will go with Kate to take her out as soon as we get home. But last night Kate had karate, which meant a quick dinner. Since Paul had taken her out yesterday morning, we decided that he would take Kate to karate and I'd take Bam-Bam for a walk while they were at class.

So I took her for a 45-min walk around the park, which she loved. I didn't realize just how hot it still was though! I'm used to exercising at 6am, when it's a lot cooler. So I was a sweaty mess when we got home, but Bam-Bam was happy. And it worked out well for me, since I'd only done weights and not a "real" workout yesterday morning.

This morning, Paul talked me into trying Bam-Bam out on my workout. I wasn't optimistic, but it actually went pretty well - although she definitely needs leash training, she's definitely trainable. The hardest part is that when we run, she wants to run flat-out, not jog, but after a couple runs I got her matching my pace pretty well. Like any puppy, she's not very good about running in a straight line - loves to zig zag right under my feet, argh - but she was getting a lot better, and a lot more focused, by the end. She definitely wants to stop and say hi to everyone though! But leash training will help with that.

So we got 10 min of running in, in 2-min increments, and I found the running wasn't as hard as usual because I was so focused on dealing with her, LOL! Maybe I'll try longer runs next time, but I wanted to go short to start so we just did run 2, walk 2.

As for the weights...I'm sore today, but good sore - my shoulder feels fine, so that makes me very happy! Maybe I'm finally over whatever nasty tweak I did back in April or whatever it was.

    I know what you mean about shoulder injuries. I injured mine doing the T-Stand - intermediate version. I got Bursitis from it. It's much better, but when I do stretches, arms straight up, I can't straighten my right shoulder all the way. Anyway, glad you're healed up and good luck on the weight training.

    Yes, dogs are a workout all by themselves! Great that you're working with yours so young. Getting them leash-trained early makes a WORLD of difference on how that exercise goes!
