I've been dealing with injuries and an emotional roller-coaster since November.
My pattern has been to start a program with great optimism and energy. At some point, I'll hurt myself or get frustrated because I'm not seeing the progress I want, or push too hard in one area and completely lose balance.
I recently watched "Extreme Weight Loss" with Chris Powell where he worked with Alyssa (8/6/13 episode). She made her phase 1 goal but started developing an eating disorder in phase2. I saw myself in that girl.
Chris got her help for the eating disorder and one of his strategies was to give her a phase 3 goal of 6. Not 6 pounds , but 6 days/week of meeting her calorie and exercise limits for the day. She had been cutting her calories way too low and exercising too hard which had stalled out her weight loss. Once she focused on 1500 calories per day and the exercise assignments per day instead of obsessing about numbers on the scale, she started losing weight again.
So, I'm taking a page from Chris Powell's book and my goal is now 6 days per week of eating 1400-1600 calories and at least 30 minutes of exercise. That doesn't mean day 7 is a free-for-all, but it will be a day to rest and relax a little. I'll weigh myself once a week and post updates as to how this works out. I'm hoping it will help me achieve some balance and get my weight loss back on track.
