Its hard tracking food when you are away from home!

Thursday, August 15, 2013

Wow this is really difficult. There are no measuring cups and I am not in control of how the food is cooked. I am finding it really difficult to find healthy meals. I eat a good breakfast, mostly oatmeal and some fresh fruit. For lunch I have been having a fiber one bar, and a mixture of almonds, raisins and choc chips and maybe a banana or apple and dinner is just a free fall. Usually a chicken dish but everything is so salty, No matter what I eat, it all taste too salty to me.

On a positive note I have been swimming and walking at least 30 minutes on the treadmill at the hotel. DH and I did a 2 mile bike ride one day and walked the same trail the next. The weather has been beautiful. We went to a zoo today and walked the whole park.

I am a little afraid to get on the scale Sunday but whatever it is I will post, good or bad knowing that as of Sunday I will get back on track. Looking forward to getting back home, like the routine that I have set up for myself. There is comfort in the consistency of the routine. Don't get me wrong I am enjoying my vacation am very rested and relaxed but there is something to be said for the saying "There's no place like home" emoticon

I am so with you about the mixed blessings of travel. I read about people who explore new food and restaurant experiences, but it always ends up with a gain for me. There is truly no place like home!

Oh man you are making me a bit nervous about my upcoming vacation! Just do the best you can with the options you have I guess. Mindful eating! Great job on all the fitness! Try not to worry and enjoy your vacation! Soon you'll be back to reality.

Amen-it is hard when we can't "control" how it's cooked and how much we put for a serving. I still find vacation a challenge. Sounds like you have positive activity strategies though!

Sounds like you are doing well with both your eating and exercising. That's awesome considering you're on vacation. Wishing you the best on your weigh in.
