Quick update

Thursday, August 15, 2013

My husband is in Rehab.
He has been there I think 3 nights.
I am totally exhausted.
I went to the allergist for my check up.
Here is the lowdown on the allergies.
I am not allergic to soy or wheat but have a food intolerance to them. Best not to eat them. My eczema is out of control, but the rest of the allergies and asthma are under control.
It showed an 8 lb drop on his scale since my last visit there.
Since they never correlate with home, I am not stressing about it.
The main thing is that I HAVE lost weight since my last dr. visit, no matter what the reading is there.

Right now, I am beat. Going to go in my chair and put my feet up,
too tired to think.

My husband had physical therapy today. He wants to come home, but has to get stronger. I keep telling him I can't lift him. He has to be able to do a lot more for himself.

Other than that. It has been a stressful day, week, month.

Today I walked 4 miles between work, the grocery store, and visiting my husband at rehab. No wonder I am tired. Need a healthy snack and rest.

The eczema is related to the food intolerance. Tonight I have it bad on my eyelids they itch and they burn! When I cut out the intolerant foods, and the eggs (allergies) my eczema calms down, and I also lose weight. So, I say no to eggs, mayo, most salad dressings, ice cream due to egg allergy (allergy means it could go to anaphylaxis so I carry an epi pen) and I say no to wheat and soy products due to intolerance. Allergies can lead to anaphylaxis, and intolerance causes skin and/digestive distress - it stresses the system, and is inflammatory. It is a learning experience, definitely. Cutting out the inflammation has helped me lose weight.

So glad to hear your husband is finally in rehab. Sorry he is pressuring you to let him come home. But you are right, he needs to be able to do things for himself unless you can get a home care worker in. No way you can do any lifting with that back.
Would this intolerance to foods be the cause of your eczema or do you still have to investigate more possibilities?
Hope you can get a good night's sleep. You really need it.
Keep on looking after yourself! That is awesome on the confirmed weight loss!

DEBORAH. I am so sorry your husband became ill when I was not keeping track of my Spark friends. I hope he will be stronger very soon. Try to take time for yourself so you can take care of him when he comes home. Will you be able to get help for when he gets home. My neighbor was able to have help after her DH was out of the hospital Pat in Maine.

Mine had ankle fusion many, many years ago and didn't have near those problems! Glad to hear he is in rehab. I'm impressed you have managed to lose weight through all this! Keep on pushing and we will keep on praying. emoticon
