So, this does not really have anything to do with weight loss, or healthy eating, but I just have to blog it anyway. This morning I was jerked from my sleep at 4:55 by what sounded like two gunshots in rapid succession. I sat up and listened hard, but heard no other noises. Tiptoed out of my room, and decided that it couldn't possibly have been shots. Decided perhaps that salsa I canned several years ago might have exploded. On my way to the pantry to check out that theory I noticed that the dog comb that had been perched on the brick hearth was now on the floor. Huh. I took a closer look, and there was a huge snake tail slithering across the hearth, and it had obviously knocked the dog comb onto the floor. It was disappearing into the basket of kindling. Ran (bravely) to call my husband, who carried the basket, kindling and snake outside. That crazy snake was over two feet long, and at least an inch in diameter! It was only a garter snake, not poisonous or anything, but how in the world did it get into the house? Not with the wood, because that was hand loaded a stick at a time, and we certainly would've seen a snake. Anyway, it was an interesting and unsettling way to start the day today!
