Random thoughts of the day

Thursday, August 15, 2013

I have a lot to talk about, but most of it just ideas that I wanted to put down. I'll start with the fact that I am down 150 lbs again.. 210.6. I went for an hour walk before breakfast and weighed in afterwards, and at 4 XL eggs with 2 Tbsp. salted butter, and 1/2 a Granny Smith apples. I spent time afterwards just sitting her on the computer, and watched this video.

It is a forum with a low fat guy, and Gary Taubes, but I find both panelists to be interesting. The video was 1:24:00 long so i don't expect most of you to wacth it, but both agreed that certain carbs were bad, and the order of how bad they were.. ice cram is worse than asparagus, obviously. What the disagreed on is where in the list of carbohydrates you would cut off. Taubes was okay with leafy greens. The other guy was okay with actual grains ( not the bread we eat ), and brown rice. Both agreed that breakfast cereals, sweets, fruit juice, pop was bad.
Both were against added salt, sugar, and processed foods in general.

It was so close, you just wanted to yell " Why are you arguing? You almost agree! ", but towards the end taubes made a good point, and a concession that I found wonderful, since most people draw battle lines and treat their nutrition like dogma. He admitted that if we were all healthy people without Type II diabetes, or the sicknesses that we currently have from 40 years of a garbage diet, that the other guy's diet would work for most of us. However, those do exist, and low carb as a corrective diet, takes these into account, and that is why they don't agree 100%. I found it a great watch. Luckily I have 84 minutes to waste..lol

I am cooking my food now. I was supposed to eat @ 3, and started boiling some chicken to cut up and throw in with my tomatoes, and mushrooms. At 3:44 I remembered it, thanks to the smell of garlic, and chicken. Hopefully, I can eat by 4:15. Amazing that i forgot to eat though. It's awesome to never be hungry. I just re-weighed myself, and still 210.6, so maintaining. I am hoping to stay below 211 at tomorrow's weigh-in.

Last of all, I am planning on dumping some Sparkfriends off my page. I am not sure if they are inactive, or just not updating SP, but some of them haven't had " proof of life " in 250 days. I am not cutting people who are inactive for a week, or even a month. We all go on vacations, have times we stray, but over 100 days without a status update, and I will be cutting you off my page. I find it hard to interact with more than 50 people. So I am cutting old Sparkfriends to make room for new ones. Anyone else done this? My worry is that someone comes back, and thinks I don't want to associate with them. Not my intention at all, which is why I am putting it in here. I hope a few are following SP, just not active, and let me know, so I don't cut them.

I am off to cut up my chicken, and throw it in my veggies, and then watch some TV tonight. I have a Tigers game, AND a Lions game ( preseason ), so I will be watching sports. If Chris Davis was to be injured Miguel Cabrera would win another Triple Crown, but he just keeps going. His BA is down, but The Orioles have a superstar there.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I think going through and updating the list is a great idea- IF they should return, you can always refriend them.

I've thought about trimming my SP friends...but always hesitate because I've seen a few come back again, in some cases after being gone a year or more. So I end up just leaving the list as is.
