Watchful Walking

Wednesday, August 14, 2013

That is such a pretty picture and even prettier to actually see. Recently our car broke down and without a vehicle we have been walking to the gym. It's not that far away, only 1.25 miles, but I noticed this little stream that I never knew was there before. I was not in a good mood that day because I would have probably driven to the gym if I had the car and admit I will when it gets fixed, but seeing something so beautiful really changed my attitude that day and reminded me of a time when I was too unhealthy to make such a trip. I will look for more opportunities to walk in new places and watch what the scenery has to offer.

You see the best in things that I take for granted and I admire you so much for that! Our life together is wonderful and I am really enjoying our healthy adventures together. I LOVE YOU!

I used to do something similar when I started walking during chemotherapy. I'd keep walking at sunrise and count my blessings. I wouldn't let myself turn around and go home until I had at least 5 things in my list for that day. Eventually, I kept on walking after coming up with my list. Chemo ended Nov. 2011 after 4 years. But I continue to walk most mornings. The day seems weird if I wake up to a thunderstorm, or have travel plans and can't start with a walk. On most of my walks, I go past a home that has a fountain on the wall of their house. And then a different round takes me past a mermaid returning water to the pond at the clubhouse. Either way, the sound of the water is very pleasant in the early morning.
