Imaginary Response from someone other than me: (But I don't feel like I do - I feel [insert emotion here]. I could use some support... yes I know I belong to SparkTeams but I really haven't participated much and offered my support and help to others and I'm afraid I might not get support and help now so why even bother?)

Me: Trust in yourself. Be positive. Love yourself.

Imaginary Response from someone other than me: (But what if [reasons why I think I can't]. I only get "heard" when I have a problem or feel bad. I get ignored when I'm happy. It's too hard. Nothing ever works the way I want it to. There's no proof that positivity works, if I walk around that way all the time people will think I'm nuts!)

Me: Muster up that cheering committee residing within because You ARE worth it.

Imaginary Response from someone other than me: (But it's really hard when I have no outside support from my family/friends, I have a lot going on in my life, I work better if others cheer me on, it doesn't feel the same if I'm the only one doing it, I can't be the only one doing this).

Me: One foot in front of the other. Keep going. You will get there.

Imaginary Response from someone other than me: (It's a lot of work to: portion out my food, track my nutrition and water; I don't like seeing my weight or my measurements, Gee this is taking a long time - I don't have this time to waste - why isn't working - the scale doesn't seem like it's moving - this is so not what I expected - why is it so hard?)

Me: Oh, and if you should find that you've gotten in your own way, stop the self sabotage and continue on your way.

Imaginary Response from someone other than me: (What? I don't do that! I know my calories are based on working out X number of times a week but I just don't feel like it - have the time - want to - and it won't really matter because I'm eyeballing my portions - my calories are already low - I'll just eat less next week. Why is everyone else losing weight but me? There must be some secret to it...)

I'd love to hear a positive "secret" that has helped you along your journey to becoming the healthiest you can be!

    A big lesson for me was to stop blaming myself for being unhealthy and overweight in the first place and learning to look ahead and live in the NOW! I'm defining a new future.

    My secret? Stop beating myself up for not being perfect! Part of loving myself is giving my inner-perfectionist a hug and sending her on her way (behind me). It's much easier to stick with healthy food and exercise when I'm not giving myself a severe finger wagging.

    When it comes to exercise, just do something, anything! Once I get moving I often want to do more! Even if I end up stopping, I feel better fir having moved.

    My positive secret??? NEVER EVER EVER GIVE UP!

Oh goodness...this is truly the hardest thing I have ever attempted in my life! I just tried to go down a bit more in weight and went up instead. If I never ever ever give up...I will win, and so will you.

I pine for a weight loss buddy that lives close to me...someone I can walk with...someone I can talk to and hear their words...someone I can bounce ideas off. But that is not to be in my onward I go with the help, support and tools I have.

    Once I posted a blog about "not wanting to do it" and a Sparker responded "Then don't. Where will that leave you?" Sounds a little harsh, but it was exactly what I needed to hear.

Now, when the "I don't want to" or "This isn't fair" or "It's not worth it" voices start... I think about her comment and know in my heart that I really do want to!!

Reading blogs written by positive people who really want to help others is another success secret. Thank you for posting your blogs!!

    What a great blog. I have had those same conversations MANY times with mysef.

When I don't have the energy for a workout or I want to pig out, I ask myself "Where do you want to be next month". I can usually talk myself out of a bad habit that way since everything is cumulative.

Blogging helps me to. I post, therefore I do!

    It is true about the support of the Spark community. I have just begun to really get involved with the Teams community and was really happy to get all the "Welcome"s and and support!

    Your blog certainly reminds me of myself and my thoughts. I have had positive responses to weight loss from coworkers and am looking forward to hearing those again when I get back to where I was a few years ago.

I agree that self motivation is the key and with many health problems on top of weight (which, of course, aggravates many of the health problems) some days it is hard to stay on the path of better health via healthy eating and exercising.

    Talk the talk until you can walk the talk.

When I was in a sales position years ago, a mentor said that phrase to me. She meant I should dress for success, smile when I didn't feel like it, stand tall when I wanted to curl up in a ball and become invisible.

Recently, someone asked in a blog how Sparkers smile all the time. She said she didn't like exercise all that much and wanted a *real* plate of pasta instead of a measly half cup. I've experienced that resentment when I'm feeling overwhelmed, while everyone else seems to be enjoying success. Now my secret is to smile, shout "WooHoooo!," trumpet my own successes, fess up when I fall below my standards, and just...

Until you talk to us we have no clue what you want to talk about and believe it or not we LOVE to hear positive conversation.

ing out to others is a very positive step.

We all have our needs and if family does not understand our mission you should know by now Spark people does and most will help.

They have to read about it and they have to understand your needs.

We cannot guess your needs we must listen to them.

We may not have all the answers but we do have lots of encouragement because we know what it takes to become healthy living, positive individuals.

Talk to us and you will benefit from Spark.
