Breaking Up Is Hard To Do

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

People come in and out of our lives, but bad habits seem to have really deep roots and stick around forever.

I've been holding my own (maintenance weight) for several months but here lately I've slipped up a couple pounds over my 'tolerance' level.

So, I've been 'back on the Spark wagon' tracking my food and fitness again, and I am utterly amazed at myself at how badly I've slipped away from all those good habits I thought I'd formed. Those good habits helped me not only to drop the pounds but keep them off.

I haven't been over eating or pigging out on bad things . . . I just haven't been measuring and tracking. And what a difference it's made!

These couple of pounds over just don't want to leave!!!!!

I remember one of the SparkCoach sessions where Coach Becky played a game of 'eyeballing' certain measurements of food . . . and then measuring it to see how closely it measured up to what it should be.

So, I'm getting real with myself here. I'm not beating myself up . . . I'm just not gonna give up.

Get back to what I know works. . . . and re-establish those good habits.
I can do this! I can do this! I can do this!

I had the same thing happen. Once I stopped logging nutrition and fitness, I gained weight back. So I just log daily. It keeps me accountable and I like the visual.

I'll admit, my husband is better at eyeballing portions than I am. Maybe it's because he's been in the grocery business for over 30 years! Whatever it takes!

Hang in there! emoticon Make that emoticon !

I will never be able to figure out why it is sooooo hard to lose a few pounds and then sooooooooo darn hard to get ride of them! ! ! I know they say it is calorie in equals calorie out, but it just never feels like the same amount of calories - emoticon

You'll concur this, I know you will emoticon

Cat---You don't know it; but, you just put determation in me; I have been up and down. I now realize why. I let my emotions rule! If I am upset, I eat! If I am alone, I eat; If I am bored, I eat! Now to find out how to control that!

Thanks, Team Member!

I've been in maintenance for awhile and I'll tell you . . . portion distortion . . . that's on of my BIGGEST bug-a-boos. So, measure and weigh it is. Just not worth over doing it unintentionally!

Good to hear from someone who has reached maintenance so I know what to expect when I get there! It still takes such diligence, doesn't it? You can do it!!!

I can imagine it's easy to lose track when you aren't tracking and measuring every bite. I have this thought that I will also track and measure periodically (a day a week?) when I reach maintenance. I'll be looking forward to reading what you figure out works for you. emoticon
