BUT, It's not what you are thinking. I have had short hair since I was in Grade 12 at high school And have always loved how my hair looked as I was growing older until about 5 months ago. I was due for a haircut and suddenly decided that I wanted to grow my hair long again. At that point, I had just dyed it so it was a lovely coppery red. Not as beautiful as my natural colouring from when I was younger, but still pretty nice. I grew it for about 2 months and started finding it blowing onto my face sometimes and tickling my ears. I bought barrettes to hold it back and was disappointed to find that my , now thinning hair, would not support their weight. I bought combs to sweep it away from my face but they fell out a lot. I continued to grow my hair for another 2 months to the point where it was curling on the ends. That was totally new! I have always had dead straight hair. Where did these curls come from? I embraced them but hated that they were constantly sneaking into my collars and hanging in my face. It was annoying me more and more each day.
The other day I looked at myself in the mirror, for the first time in a while. There was a white haired, thin on top older woman with straggly red and while hair of a thousand different lengths. I gave in.
I went to a new hairdresser and told her I wanted it short, very short. I don't enjoy fussing with my hair. With neck and shoulder issues I can't hold up a blow dryer to help with styling and styling alone makes them both ache and pain. She cut and checked with me and cut and checked and finally she combed it into place. I was thrilled.
I now have a complete, well almost, head of strawberry-white hair that styles itself and is simply wash and go. I am so happy I tried to grow it. It reminded me of how I love how my hair looks fresh out of the shower and most of the time for the rest of the day.
I won't take a picture today, as I didn't wash it and it looks like a tornado, but soon I will get DH to take my new pic for my gallery, as it has been 7 moths and I need a new progress picture. I will try to get one of my new do if any turn out nice enough to not frighten anyone.
To short hair and old age!
