I got the Book

Shades of Hope by Tennie McCarty....How to treat your addiction to food...

I just started the book and the questions...This book like has a lot of powerful questions that really get you to thinking , just why do I turn to food....why can't I stop eating or why do I loose and gain the weight back....It can cause some people a lot of emotional turmoil for sure.......
It caused me to think a lot about ME and why I might use food to cope....

I think this book will help to sort out some issues I have, I have come a long way in my weight loss journey but know this journey has no real end...lots of twists and turns and there is a light at the end of the tunnel but it's not the end of the journey....

We have a thread on the Rudy team ...I think...lol if your interested in some of the comment other have made....REMEMBER THIS IS EMOTIONAL ....PEOPLE ARE BARING THERE SOULS, THERE HURTS AND PAIN...PLEASE RESPECT THERE THOUGHTS...WE ARE LOOKING FOR VALIDATION ...WE WANT TO KNOW WHY WE ARE LIKE WE ARE, THAT WE ARE GOOD HONEST PEOPLE...WHO CARE ABOUT OUR HEALTH AND WAY TO GET THERE AND MOSTLY STAY THERE.....

have a healthy day..........

and why? I hope you share your understanding of what you are reading relating to food addition.

I read the pages that Amazon allows us to read. Indeed, from those pages I read it seems a very disturbing book. I wonder if it advocates OA? As I saw it mentioned somewhere. I also wonder if in the end, the book will say food addicts need a treatment center like Shades... That I'd find discouraging! That said I also see some very intruiging comments in those first chapters. I am considering getting the book. Not sure if I dare, though... Just reading those first pages made me think about bingeing... emoticon

Kitt, I haven't bought the book yet because I am afraid that it will open doors to my soul that I have long since closed. I hope that one day I will have the courage that you have and will make this purchase.

Shades of Hope is 10 minutes from where I live. I never knew there was a book authored from there on food addictions. I need to look and see if I am brave enough to answer some of those questions. Thank you, I may have never heard of Tennie McCarty.

Thanks. The book sounds interesting, I may get it in the future. I am definitely a food addict and an emotional eater. One I cheat it's all over. I have to be so strict on myself. That is the biggest thing for me to overcome; allowing myself to have a bad day and get back into it. So far, I haven't had an eating bad day to test myself.

Just purchased three books from Amazon I need to read first. Will have to put this on my wish list on Amazon so I don't forget about it. Hadn't heard about the Rudy team.

Hope the book provides you with lots of help ideas. emoticon
