i THINK i might have found it!

wow! emoticon i think i might have found the secret key to keep going...

i have been down this road MANY times (too many to count)... but i think i might know my motivational tools!

#1 accountability... i have a couple of really great spark friends who check up on me every couple of days, or weekly. emoticon having to be able to tell them that i am working hard, and what i have been doing, has been keepin' me in line. emoticon the thought of me having to tell them that i didn't do anything (and letting my excuses be bigger than my goal) is NOT an option! they are kind, but know that they hafta be tough with me, too. they also keep me realistic, no saying i am gonna lose 10 pounds this week! emoticon

#2 fitbit... a spark friend introduced me to a little "friendly" competition, using the fitbit. i became friends with her (and a few others) with fitbit, and seeing their steps continually going up throughout the day, makes me work harder! i was at work DANCING, emoticon to make a lot of steps quickly, i am SURE i looked like a dork! emoticon , i don't care, i GOTTA get in my steps! emoticon i BEG my family members to go walking with me! emoticon and actually, it has helped my husband, he is enjoying walking, and feeling a little better!

#3 my career focus... having the goal to be a fitness/self defense instructor emoticon , in the front of my mind, is helping. making working out and eating healthy, as part of my job, has helped me keep focused. i have a very high work ethic, and just have put it in my mind that this is part of my new career (someday soon), so i hafta start putting in the hours now. so, i walk emoticon , work out emoticon , and eat within my calorie, carb., fat, protein ranges, keeping my mind on my new career.

#4 miscellaneous... i have goal collages, pictures of how i want to look, inspiring quotes, my goals printed out, and posted, i say mantras while i am working out, and going throughout my day. i log into sparks and track my food intake, and exercise, connect with my spark friends.

#5 appropriate clothes... i am not wearing my baggy clothes to hide my body... which i learned DOESN'T help, it makes me look BIGGER! eeks! now i wear clothes that are more flattering... and a bonus, it makes me feel better!

#6 prayer... i pray a lot, not for strength and willpower, but for the continued knowledge that God is beside me, helping me every step of the way.

#7 forgiveness... i TRY to forgive myself for slip ups, after all, i am human, i am not a super model, i am not a celeb, i am NOT 21 years old anymore! i am a 45 yr old (for one more month!)mom, wife, healthcare worker... i remind myself that i am strong, smart, and sexy, and will be successful!

so, i got to get going, i hafta go "WORK" for my new career!
