Did You Catch a Look at the Meteor Shower?

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

I've been trying for the past couple of nights with no luck. There's been a kinda cloud cover. Some stars are visible, but I didn't see anything flying around. I'll check back again in a little while.

It was cloudy in the UK on the Monday night. Tuesday was clear, and i sat out till 3am. I saw a couple of bright 'sporadics' i.e. they were just odd meteors, not in the right part of the sky to be Persieds, and about 10 faint Persieds, too much light pollution in London.

We are in the country but have street lights all around us. My son tried viewing them last night but couldn't stay awake long enough to see the main shower. I was in bed by 11:30 and missed everything. emoticon

I wish I could see them, but I live in the city limits, and there are just too many streetlights. I love living in town, but I grew up in the country, and I do miss having a good view of the stars at night.

It's almost always rainy or overcast here. Our best sky observation occurs in winter here.

I have been watching but I haven't seen any. It has been cloudy and last night we had a thunder storm. I got up around 3:30. The stars were bright but that was all I saw.

I've seen it many times when I was down in Anguilla but there's too much light pollution where I am now and I cannot stay up that late any more.

The announcer on tonight's news said the best time to watch for the shooting stars
will me between 12 midnight and 2am. Don't expect to be able to stay awake that
