I've heard of people allowing themselves a "cheat day," when they let themselves eat/drink what they would like, instead of following their typical "diet." I remember a couple of years ago, when I was probably the most successful with my weight loss I've ever been, I did allow myself a special treat once a week. Every Friday night, I would allow myself a food treat and a drink treat. It wasn't an entire cheat DAY, but I would let myself have something fun on Friday night. For instance, that is always our Family Night, so I would have chips and salsa, and a couple of beers... or I'd have a couple glasses of wine and slice of cheesecake... a glass of Dr. Pepper (my favorite!) and a bowl of popcorn...etc. I sooo looked forward to my treat, and felt so satisfied after eating/drinking it that I was honestly able to hold off on "naughty" things until the next week. It really worked well for me.
What have you found to work for you? Do you allow yourself a little indulgence every once in a while? If so, why? If not, why not?
