Needing Breakfast Ideas

Monday, August 12, 2013

I am needing breakfast ideas from my team mates and SparkFriends.

I have been eating a 2 egg omlet filled with chopped non-starchy veggies (zucchini, yellow squash, red/yellow/orange peppers, onion, celery) but I am getting tired of it.

I have some special dietary needs/restrictions:
Because of fibro I need real protein with all the amino acids
Because of hypothryoidism, I can't have calcium so soon after taking my meds in the morning.
Because of hypothyroidism, I can't have soy or raw broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, spinach, kale, etc.
Because of pre-diabetes, I need to restrict carbs and starches.

So, does anyone have any ideas?

    Turkey and fruit
Chicken and fruit
I can't do beef so I enjoy the poultry for breakfast
Egg something one day and meat the next ....I always have good protein in morning... even if I go light on It through the day.

Smoothies are great too...yogurt and fruit and ice ... I can't face a green one in the morning...do them later in the day

A bit of dark chocolate when I am dragging or have big responsibility for the morning...a little caffeine goes a long way for me!

Wow Heidi, nothing like a challenge. What about chia pudding with fruit? Green smoothies still rock my mornings!!

I like to use leftovers and use a smart carb wrap for breakfast. I add avocado, broccoli slaw, lettuce etc according to what I have on hand. Last week I had leftover chicken, flank steak, and a chuck roast so that made breakfast easy. I also on many days have 8oz orange juice and add 2T of flax USA. I guess you may not be able to do the broccoli slaw but it is only about 2T on wrap so it doesn't cause me any problems. I wish you all the best!!

I do steel cut oats in the morning. Have you tried quinoa? That's good too.

Sometimes if I'm just not "in the mood" for breakfast food I will have leftovers from the night before.

I had started taking my thyroid med @ night and switching my calcium and vit. D to in the morning so I didn't have that lag time, but just didn't work out. So, I am in the same boat . . . have to wait that hour after taking my pill.

I do regular food for dinner. Beans and rice (small amount of washed brown rice). Spaghetti squash with a meat/veggie sauce. Tossed greens with salmon and nuts.
