I Look like the Representative "Yoga Success Story"

Ran into The Cool Yogini after all these years ...

She'd never judged me for my weight at the time. I'd left the studio where I currently take dance - [they were and still are, primarily a Yoga studio ... and with capital Y, teaching veganism and green living, too] for that very reason, primarily. Secondarily, in that they were competitive with each other - on and off the yoga mat ... and spoke condescendingly to me about my primarily home practice. [Most of the teachers and the pet students, anyhow.]

I had not considered myself "overweight" with a BMI in the 25 range, and an inability for my diet to pare me of a few pounds after having lost dozens and dozens; keeping it all off for 7 years.

Long story short, I was at a happy weight.

Now, I am wraithlike--with sunken cheeks and an ill-maintained smile. Thirty-five pounds less than the last time she saw me/taught me yoga, nearly 2 years ago. With bones sticking out, even in the back ribs, even in full-on lighting ... thankfully, not yet discernible under tight, light cloting ...

But she was so very, very proud to have been my yoga teacher. In front of the group (this was a community meditation and kirtan meeting), she catalogued my (to me - and to the general neighborhood, which is so upscale - sparse) yoga attendance at the Tree of Life, in its entirely ...

Her knowing that I had mostly a home yoga practice (it's yoga FUSION to YOU!) and that it hadn't been HER teaching that elicited countertransference - that feeling of love received from your yoga teacher - rare when it happens - did not make a difference.

I look like the representative Yoga Success Story!
