Getting Ready for the Move - Inside and Out!

Monday, August 12, 2013

Gary is moving in with me. THIS IS HUGE FOR ME. Being in a relationship at ALL is huge for me! I truly think I've found the love of my life (YES, IT CAN HAPPEN AFTER AGE 50) and everyday is just better. We are truly two people whose goal in life is to do all we can to make sure the other is happy. I think that is the secret!

He was married before and he let her have the house, so he's been living in an apartment. His lease runs out the end of September, so we decided we are ready! It will be the first time EVER that I had someone living with me (except for my ex-husband when we were married) and the first time EVER that I had someone being an equal financial/housework/cooking/EV
ERYTHING partner. We are going to renovate the house together, with the goal of selling in when I retire (5 years or so?) and then moving to the BEACH! I haven't spent much time at my house lately. My excuse was that I wanted to be alone with Gary and I still have my one son living there. Honestly, though, I think it has been more about the general feeling I have there - from when my brother was there and dying of cancer. So the house REALLY needs an injection of good spirits, some spring cleaning and minor repairs PLUS we are going to put in new flooring and paint. I am excited!

Yesterday, I did 3.65 miles in one hour in the horrible high heat and humidity. It was TOUGH; but I would NOT let myself stop. I kept walking in a direction that would REQUIRE me to go further. I call that my "point of no return" strategy. By the end, I was pretty much spent - but for a good reason. I didn't hydrate before and I didn't take any water with me (even though Gary TOLD me to but I said I didn't want to carry it). When I got home, I was really dizzy. We took my BP and it was 98/55. Holy cow! I don't think my BP has ever been low like that. Fortunately, I recovered pretty quickly and I read that heat and dehydration can cause that to happen. WON'T DO THAT AGAIN.

Today I have lots of management meetings, then rehearsal for Trophy Husbands for 3 hours (which is DEF my workout for the day!). Going to be a great day!!

Good luck with the move. Hope it all goes well for you two. I like your walking strategy, I've done that a time or two myself. Gotta have your water in this NC humidity!

Congratulations. Watch your stress levels. Any change... even good ones and ones you've been looking forward to, can cause stress. Good luck!
