Stop counting start doing

I was walking the dogs this morning and I thought about how I stopped counting calories burned. I had been doing this for over 5 yrs. Setting calorie burn to aim for each week. But since I got my fitbit it has kind of gone to the wayside. Knowing I need to make my 10,000 steps everyday is enough. I mean really who cares about a week? Everyday we gotta try everyday! I wont stop counting my calories eaten. If anyone asks me how I have kept my weight off. That is the single biggest reason. Being accountable for what I eat. Other details are factors as well but eating is everything. You can exercise as much as u want but if u don't eat good, there is no keeping up.

I have been so busy this week I didn't get a chance to get my dogs to the graveyard for a nice walk. This morning we finally made it over there. So nice! So peaceful. My little piece of zen.

Garden is still going nuts with zucchini we are on number 17 and 18. I have given away a good portion or baked with and given away that way. This week I got busy and forgot about them and magically had a 3 lb one.

Last week we planted two of my dad's trees. A baby ginkgo, I have always wanted a ginkgo and now I have 2 lol We planted his favorite kind of a tree a pine. I think we got the coolest one too a Dragon Eye pine, it's mostly white. The morning after we planted it, a butterfly was sitting on it. I feel like my dad has been visiting a lot.

We decided to keep one of his tortoises, his baby. She isn't really a baby, probably 7-8 years old. But he started her from a hatching and put a lot of time and love into her. I don't think she had a name so we are deeming her Bette, after my grandma. She is so friendly she comes up when u go up to her enclosure and tries biting u but gently. This will be after she has eaten too, she's not timid at all. Unlike the other one my cousin is getting, she wont eat if you are in the room with her. Scott planted grass seeds in her little home and its growing.

Then our last new pet is Faygala (little bird) in yiddish. He also had Boy chick lol Boy chick went to another home. Our bird Gert is enjoying having a new girlfriend. They listen to NPR together all day long and talk to each other.

Oh and my sunflowers are blooming! I had to bust out the SLR for them! I vow to always grow sunflowers from here on out. I just love them. The excitement of waiting for them to open and see their color is so much fun and hard to stand all at once lol

I used to be great at counting calories, and I have definitely let it fallen by the wayside. I know this is the reason why I have not lost weight as quickly as I wanted.

Really motivating post. Tomorrow is a new day, and like you say, make the best of it all day, every day. I don't track my workouts, and I never cared to count calories burned. I felt like it would just give me more of an excuse to eat more lol. I like to track by seeing how much better I did from what I've done before.

That lil' turtle is so cute! :) Absolutely love it. I'm glad things have bee looking up for you. Thank you for being that awesome person to look up to throughout my (slow) journey.

I love that your birds listen to NPR. Now, if they just watched Doctor Who, they'd be the coolest birds EVER!

Great post! Your enthusiasm is contagious! Thank you!

Thanks for the smile re. the birds and NPR. Thanks for the words of wisdom, too. It was perfect timing. NPR, gardening, fitbit, creatures... you're my kind of girl :)

Like everyone else I love this blog. We have been friends for so long but you are like an onion and there is always another layer of you to discover.

I am still debating the Fitbit. I probably will get one when I'm healthier enough to use it to it's full benefit. You know I am a huge fan of getting my steps in. I think it is one of the most important things, exercise wise.

I used to live across the street from a grave yard and I liked to walk there too.

The dogs are so cute! It looks like they are guarding the zucchini. LOL.

I love both gingko trees and pine trees too. One thing that you will find with your dad being gone is that when you want to feel close to him you can. I would ask my mother and loved ones to show me they were with me and they always did.

I'm so glad you decided to keep Bette!! OMG, she is beautiful!! I love her expression! I'm concerned here. There are a lot less box turtles this year everywhere.

My MIL had a bird like Faygala and I wish we had taken her and my MIL's other bird home and her calico cat too. My husband's brother took them home and tried to sell some of them and then at least the cat and one bird were dead within a few months. I don't know about the other bird. The cat was only 6 years old. SIGH!!

Your dad's pets are with the right person. You will take good care of them.

I love sunflowers too. There is a man here who grows an entire field of them and we always take pictures. They are unbelievable.

Hey Julie, sounds like you're doing pretty good this week. :)

I'm on Day 42 of logging my food and the weight is coming off. It took me resigning myself to doing it and just telling myself there is no other way of losing. So I completely agree with you.

As always, I love your pictures. Your dad is smiling down on you. :)
