Today's accomplishments

Sunday, August 11, 2013

Just this minute I have been thinking about what I have accomplished today, as opposed to what I HAVEN'T accomplished. It feels good to think about it from that point of view. Have you ever kept a running list of things you have done for the day? It does feel good to see how long the list is at the end of the day.

Even the way you write about your accomplishments can be positive or negative. For example, instead of writing 'I didn't get mad at anybody today' I could write 'I stayed civil all day' instead.

So I did write that :)

Not that I am a raving madwoman, mind you. I just know I could be sweeter in how I deal with people, especially those I love.

Hmmm. Maybe I'll write a few more accomplishments down.

How many accomplishments are on YOUR list today?

You are right, it is a subtle way of thinking that can either bring you up or bring you down. Love the idea of writing down accomplishments instead of the never ending 'to do' list that just gets added to each time I get something done. Will try that today. Have a great week! emoticon emoticon

Yes we do tend to short change ourselves... noting how grand the accomplishments of others, then noting what we ourselves have neglected to achieve. We do need to like ourselves enough to promote all the little things we do get right, or nearly right... which very well may out-weigh our oops, missed that one, short falls.
Thanks for reminding us to LOVE ourselves.

You make me stop and think. There is one I am particularly proud of. It was a hike through a rugged up and down trail in a park in Olympia, WA. It's only 1.4, but for someone with some leg weakness challenges like I have, and for one who has lung challenges like my friend who went with me has, it was a very trying and rewarding walk. Thanks for reminding me to make a note of our accomplishment. Glenn
