Bringing back the cardio

Saturday, August 10, 2013

I am on the move again. Walking is a bit rough with the knee issues.

Sprain + weight = a long way back

But now, I am reconnecting with my love - the stationery bike. I still have a hard time throwing my leg over the "saddle" to get on so the seat is probably a bit lower than it really should be, but at least I am getting on it and feeling good. I am just getting reacquainted so I am not doing an all out effort, but I see where I can do more and maybe how I can fit more into my routine. This is good.

I also met with my trainer today and worked with resistance bands. Ok, do not let those rubber bands fool you. That stuff is hard. I feel just as much backtalk in my arms from that as I do the weights or the medicine ball. Looks can be deceiving. They look like a cakewalk and they are tough. HA HA.

Hubs and I went out to dinner and I had pecan crusted chicken. It was good --- but for one serving they brought me 3 chicken breasts. I ate one and 2 are sitting in my fridge along with veggies. That was some crazy portion.

Well, I hope everyone is having a nice weekend! Take care and have fun sparking!

Catching up with you here - hm, I ought to get serious with those bands too. Glad to hear you are ticking right along although I'm not surprised! I got a bit derailed by finishing laptop cleanup for the new person and then came down with a sinus infection...but the infection is gone now, in less than 3 days, which I chalk up to my healthy virus-fighting sparky state!
Keep trucking... emoticon emoticon emoticon

That's good that you are getting back to the stationary bike. I agree about the resistance bands. Those things are a tough workout! :)

I, too, have bad knees. It's a bummer, but we do what we can, huh? I've really gotten so I like the stationary bike (I have one at home, too!) I DVR the Dr Oz Show everyday, but I won't allow myself to watch--unless I'm riding the bike! Good incentive, since I love the show! (You could make this pact with any show--chose your favorite). Nice blog . . . thanks!

I do the band work outs and your right, they are tough!

Every time I go out to eat I am astounded by the portion sizes. I usually either order an appetizer for my meal or take 1/2 of it home.
