Well I just got done with my first 5k. The first mile I was able to do the walk/run approach, but after that I was only able to walk. The thing is that I am just sooo out of shape, and in fact I was only on week 1 of the walk/jog program, but I figured what the hell I'm gonna go ahead and do it and see how it goes. I was able to complete it in 60 minute exactly almost.
Now truth be told I actually walked 3.42 miles (because that is what my route it) and it is full of hills and valleys so I think that maybe my time would be better if it was a flat track or road course of some sort, but I don't really know. I am just psyched that I was able to do it because the most I have walked recently was a little over 2 miles and I just added walking to my workout routine this Monday.
On a side note I am down 9 pounds since I have joined the site and I am really stoked about that, I know that this journey isn't a race to lose weight, but I'll be happy when I'm able to jog/run in one!
