The Beasts

Saturday, August 10, 2013

Pottering in the kitchen...
Now for a few carrots and a sprig of parsley...
Tum-tee-tum...out the garden....

My parsley is bare...my carrots are stumps...I've been robbed!

EEK! Caterpillars!
Green and black striped ones with yellow spots.
Wait...
Wait...
Wait...
Look in the book...those little beasts are black swallowtail butterfly babies.

Sigh...before we have beauty, we have to endure the beast.

Write carrots and parsley on my shopping list.

Wonderful...love the story...I am looking forward to gardening out at the farm next year. This year will be all clean up and home repairs. emoticon

AH yes. Happens to my parsley, every year! The don't always go for my carrots, though.
We have a bumper crop of the black swallowtails, this year, as well as the TIger swallowtails! emoticon

LOL! So sorry about your loss, but you are so funny! You are right, pain often comes before joy, and hardship before beauty!
