I learned something interesting today...

Friday, August 09, 2013

I discovered something new today. I'm definitely going to be following up on it. I've been pretty run down lately. In the Dr. Oz newsletter, the focus was on fatigue. Turns out that I'm in a high risk group for low iron. NOT anemia - low iron. Apparently you can suffer from low iron but still not have a low cell count (anemia). I do occasionally suffer from anemia. There was a list of symptoms and if you suffer from 1 or more, you should consult your doctor.

I have 5 of them! Just so you know... there are only 5.

I think I'm going to be consulting with my doctor in the very near future! Geez! After hearing about this, like a good scientist I researched it some more. It would explain a lot of things. It's easily treatable and reversible, so that's good!

I'm off... I need to go plan my next order for veggies...

Sending out lots of wishes for a wonderful weekend to all my pals! Spark on my friends!!
Chris

I responded to Susan's question in an SM; but I realized someone else might like to know too...

Here's a link to the original video that got me started (it's 4 parts; but they're each really short)

Hope this helps... I just searched more from here on my own. If you haven't used it before, in Google there is a search tool called Google Scholar - it links you to scientific literature if you're interested.

Hmmm... I need to look into this. I hate feeling tired all the time. Glad you got the heads up from the newsletter.

Hmmm. I want to research this. I try to keep up with Dr. Oz, but am not receiving the newsletter. I'm older than you and I thought we older ones (post menopausal) didn't have to worry as much about iron...now I'm not so sure. I used to be anemic as a young woman.

I googled the newsletter and found this link for sign-up. It also has a link on this page to see previous newsletters.

    Hi,

Do you have a link to the newsletter article? I'm tired all of the time and am looking for the reason.

Can you buy iron OTC where you are? Here you can get it at chemists and health food stores, and even the supermarket.
