A Tough Workout

Friday, August 09, 2013

Last night I went to a Meetup group that met at a local high school (within walking distance from my apartment!) and did an Insanity workout. I had heard the name from infomercials but didn't really know what it entailed.

Was it insane? Well... Sort of. The warm-up was a 1-mile run! The instructor was a very soft-spoken guy though he and the rest of the group (it started with 10 of us) were all encouraging. It was definitely harder than any workout I do at the gym, though similar to BodyAttack.

I also was thinking while doing the workout, "What's the point of this?" I am not out to become the fittest person on my block. I want to be healthy, but I also don't want it to become an obsession.

While it's good to challenge ourselves to something harder -- that is what creates change -- I don't think I need or want to do something like this regularly.

Here's the group that made it to the end of the workout. The trainer is the guy on the left, and I'm third from left -- you might recognize the infuser water bottle I'm holding. :) emoticon

Glad you had fun...I worry that exercising will become an obsession....guess it's one of those things you need to control and not let it control you
